White shark breaching for seals – False Bay – South Africa

False Bay near Cape Town is one of the few places in the world where you can observe the unusual hunting of white sharks for seals. Attacking seals with jumping out of the water (breaching) is a special technique that the great white sharks from Seal Island have learned. It involves developing maximum speed to surprise and capture the seal. Such unusual hunts continue throughout the entire South African winter from June to October.
